I was thinking of starting a new tradition this year... My kids NEVER get sugar cereal except on vacation. Would it be too corny to wrap a box up for them every christmas? :)
ReplyDeleteWe make latkes and home made applesauce. The house smells oily and yummy!

ReplyDeleteOur family has a fun tradition on Christmas Eve - whoever says "Christmas Eve gift" first to you gets to open one gift under the tree. Now that most of us live far away from eachother you know when that phone rings you better answer it with "christmas eve gift" so you can get the jump on the family!

ReplyDeleteAt our house, we have an "indoor snowball fight" every Christmas. We head to the basement, bundle up in our best outdoor gear, build forts at either end of the room, and throw giant marshmallows at one another. Loads of fun, and a great way to burn off that extra energy they have from being trapped inside all day during the cold-weather months.
Thanks so much, and have a great giveaway week!

ReplyDeleteI hang up the kids' stockings in *my* room. Then, at a reasonable time (like, not 5am!) they all pile into bed with me to open them. It's a favourite tradition with all the kids, even though they're now 21, 19 and 18!!

What a great giveaway! Thank you for the chance.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite holiday traditions is our family celebration of the Winter Solstice: we make bird feeders with pine cones, we bake a cake, we light a candle and have a delicious feast for dinner.
Until us "kids" starting having babies of our own, we'd always empty out our Christmas stockings while barely awake, in our pj's, crazy hair and all, first thing Christmas morning. Even though we were all adults we made sure to at least wake super early and head to Mom's house (if we didn't sleep over) earlier than anyone really wanted to be awake. Family stockings will have to wait until Christmas dinner this year.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics, btw. Love the colors!

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who I've known since I was born. Every Christmas, her family put on a party and carol-singing night - where we all gather round the piano with candles and sing.
ReplyDeleteThe tradition was always that the kids had to sing the first verse of "Away in a Manger" on their own - but as we "kids" have gotten older, the rule changes - first it was "still in high school", then "still in college", then "under thirty". Now it's "anyone who has ever been a kid at one of these parties".
