WIP #13

Geez, these Wednesdays come fast.  If only I could say the same for Fridays...

Today, I have a couple of completed projects to share {gasp}. I know!!

So if you took a peek at this blog earlier this week, you would have seen that the I Spy and Matching Game quilt I made for my son's preschool is completed!  His teachers asked me to present it to the class at circle time with a little information on the process of making it and so forth.  However, I think I laid it out for them prematurely, as soon as I did the class pounced on it and I completely lost my audience.

Quilt Stats:
Size: 48" x 60"
Fabric: Lots of different ones!  Some from a swap done early this past summer, some from my stash, my local quilt shop and Joann's.
Quilted: Meandering stars
update: Design: can be found here.
The second project completed is part of a Christmas gift (I warned the recipient's mom that I was going to post this.)  It's a small thing but something I wanted to make...

A crayon roll!  It all came together so easily, I can see making more of these for gifts (we've been invited to quite a few Birthday parties recently) or as party favors.  I used leftover fabric from my son's quilt I made him earlier this year.

Projects in progress:
Kaleidoscope quilt (behind)
Skill Builder Sampler (behind)
Daisy chain ABC's sampler (on the letter 'J')
 Husband's shirt

Not started:
Bottled Rainbow quilt (sorting scraps)
Princess Pea quilt

Warm, cool quilt

Currently on hold:
Beatrix Potter quilt (working up design)
Barn quilt

This week's stats:

I Spy Quilt Completed!

You are all probably wondering, "what ever happened to the I Spy quilt we heard so much about?"

Well....

I just pulled it out of the dryer this morning.

Monday, when I take my little guy to preschool, I will give the quilt to the class.  I'm hoping they like it as much as my son does.  Last night as soon as I finished sewing the binding on, he grabbed the quilt and tucked himself in it to go to bed, matching blocks all the way.

WIP #12

I was out of town for a while and still have family over so a whole lot has not been done in the sewing department.

Which means this post will just be a continuation of my last WIP post...

I started quilting the warm, cool quilt last night.  Like I mentioned before, I can not show the whole thing until after Christmas.  I did a lot of debating for the back of this quilt, finally deciding on a pieced back with some of my largerfabric pieces.  One block was left, so I p;aced that on the back as part of my label.

Not sure what is taking so long on the fabric for my daughter's Princess Pea quilt.  I had only ordered a yard, at the beginning of September, and still have not received it.  I got confirmation it was shipped, but....

This week I am hoping to have a good chunk of time set aside to sew.  If all works out, maybe I will have a new finished debut for you all next WIP! :)

WIP #11

All right, so a few new project on my list.  Well, more than a few since the holiday season is fast approaching.  Obviously I will not be able to name them all here on account of recepients of those gifts read this blog, but I will throw in a peek at a few here and there...

A shirt for my husband (not a Christmas gift.)

It's my first attempt at any sort of "advanced" apparel, so I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing.  All the pieces have been cut out, I just need to start sewing them together.  But every time I get up the nerve to begin the next process I remember this...

My warm/cool quilt top is almost done!  I'll give you a little sneak peek as this will be going to someone for Christmas....

I had changed my mind on using solely vintage prints and chose to do a more scrappy look; warm/cool blocks are in a zig zag pattern.

Projects in progress:
Warm, cool quilt (almost there)
Kaleidoscope quilt (behind)
Skill Builder Sampler (behind)
Daisy chain ABC's sampler

Not started:
Bottled Rainbow quilt

Log cabin quilt

Pioneer Fun

The preschool my son attends is doing a section on pioneers.  The kids have churned butter to spread on freshly baked corn bread, made slates to do their writing on...

Took turns pulling each other in the wagon...

Had Banjo Bob come and play tunes for them on his banjo...

Cowboy James and Cowboy Logan taught the kids how to lasso...

It has been a treat while dropping off or picking up Logan to see what the kids have been up too that day.  Since Logan goes a bit later than the other kids, whenever we arrive they rush to us, exclaiming what they have been doing thus far.  There are many more activities planned for them as the pioneer section continues...
