Lunch Bag Finish!

I finished Logan's train lunch bag today!  Here it is all lovely with the train fabric he picked out!

I purchased the pattern from Gingercake Patterns and Design.  Instead of the Velcro that the pattern called for, I used a magnetic snap.  Mainly because I despise Velcro.

The inside is just a yellow striped cotton print that I laminated with iron on vinyl

The pattern was easy to follow, I misread where to leave one of the two openings at for turning the lunch bag right side out; which I discovered after everything was turned out and ironed nicely.  So, I improvised. I don't think anyone would be able to tell unless they were looking for it. And I'm not going to say anything!

He's ready for a fun filled day at school!

WIP - Planning the Big Birthday Bash & A Giveaway

My little guy's 5th Birthday is tomorrow, so Saturday is his big birthday bash.  I'm calling it this for several reasons:

1. This is his first "real" birthday party with friends.  All of his other parties have been just us as a family.
2. I haven't thrown a party this big before.  We sent out 17 invitations and so far 15 kids are coming.

Speaking of invitations.  Are these not the cutest invites ever!  I've gotten lots of compliments on them.  I purchased them through an Etsy shop called onlysunshinedesigns.

Lots of sewing going on to get ready for the party.

When I made the last crayon roll, I said that I wanted to make them again - say for a Birthday party.  So here I am, whipping up 20 of these puppies.  These ones are a bit different in that I made them to fit 8 crayons and added a place for a small pad of drawing paper.

Besides crayon rolls, there are wooden train whistles, train puzzles, train bubbles, lots and lots of train cups, plates, an engine pinata...

And of course, we have to have a train cake!  I'm going to make 2 of them - one chocolate and one vanilla.

Still on my to do list - bunting!

So, how about a Happy Birthday Logan giveaway?  I let Logan help pick out a little something for you guys.

Five La Femme by Melissa Crowley for Robert Kaufman fat quarters.

To enter leave a comment on what Birthday activities you like to do (no matter if it's for you or a kids' party.) International entries welcome!

Giveaway will close January 23rd at 6pm MST.  I will pick a random number, make sure that I have an e-mail address for you!

If It's Not the Kids...

I 've showed pictures before of my little ones crawling all over a quilt I was trying to baste.  If they aren't on it, then I have this...

Look at my Biscuit there, nice and comfy.  Sheesh.

Every time!

I always do this.  Every time I make something with ties on it, I sew them wrong so that when I turn the item right side out, the ties are stuck inside.

Out comes the trusty seam ripper...again.

2013 - A Lovely Year of Finishes

Have you heard of Fiber of All Sorts and Sew Bitter Sweet Design's 2013 challenge?

It's called "A Lovely Year of Finishes."  At the beginning of each month you link up your goal project.  In other words, a project that you want to finish by the end of that month.

So for January, I chose my triangle quilt.  Yeah, you guys have seen this one quite a bit.  But I want need to get it done!

At the end of the month, you link your finished project back up to the linky party to show all you accomplished your goal!

I have many WIP's (works in progress) that have been hanging around; and me needing a push to get them done.  The encouragement from the others participating is just the ticket!

WIP - New Year, New (and old) WIP's

The holidays have certainly taken a toll on me.  I saw Lee's WIP post and had to check the calendar to see if it really was Wednesday!

While going through my stash to see what I needed to stock up on during all the after holiday sales ;) I came across all these neutral and blue fat quarters.  I have been wanting to make a neutral quilt for quite some time, so thought, what better time than now to start right?

And in case you missed it.  Some of my holiday finishes...
