A Special Delivery

I am currently on vacation visiting family and friends in Washington State, but I wanted to share this as it is now officially delivered to my Mom.

This was my first attempt at a quilt this size - I chose to do the queen size granny square.  In order to finish it in time, I did several days of marathon sewing, kicking the husband and kiddos out of the house.

And it is finished!  Sorry for the blurry pics.  :(

The majority of the fabrics came out of my stash.  The sashing is Kona Meringue and the back is a solid I had in indigo (not sure the manufacturer.)  Except for a line of more granny squares.
It is hard to tell in the pictures, but the border is done with 6 x 22 inch pieces of blues used in the granny square blocks.

A few more large  quilts have been requested since I have been on vacation.  More on that later!

11th WIP of 2012

I have had my little sewing machine whirring away this past week.  We've decided to go see family and friends in Washington State, so I am trying to get a few projects done before we go!

First, my Mom asked if I would make her a coupon clutch (you might remember I made one for a dear friend and my sister this past Christmas.)  When I asked my Mom what colors she would like, she said "springy ones."  I used Flora by Lauren and Jessi Jung for Moda.  This one just might be my favorite!

Linked up my water bottle holder for the Zakka Style sew along.  You can read all about it here.

Made the little sewing kit from the Zakka Style book.  Isn't it cute!  I'm making another one but haven't figured out what colors to use yet or whether I want to make it with a little bit bigger dimensions or not.  The fabric used was scraps left over from my sister's apron and her coupon clutch.

I just got this voile fabric in by Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks collection.  Oh, it is so soft!!  The plan is to make springy-summery scarves with it!

Water Bottle Holder

This week the Zakka Style sew along hosted by LR Stitched  consisted of constructing a water bottle holder.

I chose to use snaps as opposed to the buttons in the instructions.  Also, instead of appliqueing scrap strips, I chose to do an all over print...let me just show you!

Fabric used: Later Alligator - A Tribute to Tammis Keefe by Michael Miller,   Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy Eyelet in pink, and Essex linen in natural by Robert Kaufman

I have added making a few more of these to my projects list; especially since Logan said he wanted one!
