5th WIP of 2012

After (not) much consideration, I decided to jump on the granny square bandwagon.

I must have been really into blues when I started quilting 7 years ago because I have.a.ton of blue fabric.  What better way to de-stash all those blues?

It is difficult to tell in the picture, but I am using Kona Meringue as the background.  At first I  thought that maybe I should have gone a shade darker in the yellows, but it will do.

Four down - many, many more to go.

4th WIP of 2012

Let's jump in shall we?

I finished the Daisy Chain Crewel work sampler.  This was my first time doing crewel work, and a first for many of the stitches involved in it.  The killer for me...french knots.  Though those were a stitch I learned in my early teens, no matter how many times I do them, they always seem to get the best of me.

Now all that is left is to frame it!  I'm hanging this little beauty in my little girl's room.

Needed to send off some thank you cards, so I whipped these up.

I actually made several more of them, but realized after sending them off to their recipients, I had forgotten to photograph them.

What's On My Mind

With Spring right around the corner, my thoughts are filled with an abundance of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

I went through my box of seeds...

And made an inventory on what I currently have.  I tried to break my inventory down in sections of vegetables, herbs, and flowers in alphabetical order.

Then I made another list of what I didn't have in my inventory but would like to grow; purchased my seeds.

I would LOVE to do a cutting garden this year.

Each morning I test the ground - is it ready to be worked yet?    Unfortunately, here in New Mexico we still have temperatures in the teens.  But once the temperatures begin to rise and that warm desert sun starts hitting, it won't be long.  Meanwhile, I'll keep dreaming.
