WIP #7

New projects: Bottled Rainbow quilt.  I've seen quite a few of these completed and just had to do one myself!  Just looking at all these bright colors put a big smile on my face!

I call my daughter Princess Pea, so I figured a princess pea quilt would be a perfect first quilt for my little one.  Her first birthday is Sunday.  Obviously  I will not have the quilt done by then, but hopefully (fingers crossed) by Christmas.

Fabric

Can you believe all this beautiful fabric I just came upon?

My Mom gave me those vintage prints, the blue plaid and the white with the blue embroidery on it, while I was visiting.  Love it!

The jelly roll is Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda.  This is turning into a quilt for my daughter.

There is nothing like a pile of rainbow Kona solids to brighten even the gloomiest days.  Don't you agree?

WIP #6

I haven't gotten much sewing done in the past couple of weeks.  Now that I am almost caught back up at work, I think I can start really diving in to all my lovely projects again. 
Remember this sampler that I was taking with me on our little trip to Washington.  Well, this is as far as I have gotten. 

I have discovered that I am quite slow when it comes to crewel work.  That, and I am learning each stitch as I do them.  The only stitch work I have ever done in the past is cross stitch and french knots.  But it's coming along.

This is a log cabin quilt top my mom made (I think) 30 years ago.  I don't remember her doing any type of quilting while growing up.  Just little things like sewing on scout badges and hemming clothes.  But I love this little quilt top!  My mom gave it to me to finish (sandwich, quilt, and bind.)

Vacation

It's kind of silly to say I need a vacation from my vacation, but it so true!  The past week and a half has been a whirlwind of visiting friends and family.  It had been so long since seeing some of the much loved people in my life.  I met a niece of mine for the first time (she is almost 4 years old now.) 

I moved to New Mexico five years ago from Washington, and had forgotten how green everything there is!  I think my kiddos were amazed as well.  It was quite a difference going from all that green and then flying back into Albuquerque.  Everything was so brown, one person on the plane commented that the state looked dead.

Now we're home and trying to get everyone back on schedule (sleep schedules were thrown WAY off on our visit.)

Not much sewing was done - well none at all actually.  But I am looking forward to picking up where I left off and catching up with all the wonderful people and blogs out there that I admire.
